After a career with Edison spanning
over 35 years, Ray retired from his administrative position in early
2006 and will serve as a consultant. He served as chief nuclear
officer of the utility for more than 15 years, and was responsible
for all of Edison's wholesale energy market transactions during this
period, including through the 1998-2002 period of market restructuring,
as well as for resource planning more recently.
He served as president of the American
Nuclear Society (ANS) from 2002-03, bringing nearly four decades of
nuclear industry experience to the ANS presidency. He is a current
member of the U.S. Department of Energy's Nuclear Energy Research
Advisory Committee. Harold Ray's keynote address discussed the
challenges and opportunities that exist currently for the large-scale
deployment of emissions-free electricity generating resources.
