Herrington is a mathematics teacher at Clovis High School. She received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching in 1999, and was also a finalist for the award in 1993 and 1998. Other awards include the College Teacher of the Year for Clovis High School (2000); Teacher of the Year for the Clovis Unified School District (1996); American Electronics Association Outstanding Educator (1998); and CSU Fresno College of Engineering and Computer Science Math and Science Excellence in Education Award (2000).

Herrington has been a member of Cal TAC since 2009.
