Mathematics Teacher, Pioneer High School, Whittier
He is a mathematics teacher and department chair at Pioneer High School in Whittier. González
previously served as a member of the National Teacher Advisory Council, and was named California's
Teacher of the Year in 1996. He received the Milken Outstanding Educator Award in 1997. He is
also serving his third term in the board of education for Whittier City School District, where he is
currently Board President. He holds a master's degree in educational leadership from Point Loma
Nazarene College.
"I plan to be in the classroom until I retire because the impact that I make on kids as a teacher is daily and unmatched by any other profession. Preparing my students for college and to become problem solvers for life as well as to become good citizens of this great country are my main objectives as a teacher and I do it with pride everyday."
